My birthday is just a little over a month away.
An auction house hopes to sell a collection of fossilized Tyrannosaurus rex bones that are believed to be part of the same animal that was the first of the sharp-toothed dinosaurs ever to be found.I've always wanted to make soup from T-Rex stock. After that, I can finally die.

The post that was here was determined to be too whiny without enough of the funny. The concept was fun and may show up again, though.

"Brain curse strikes musicians"
Too true. From multiple experiences, I can tell you: if you ever meet a violinist, run.

The BBC provides a perfect example on how to accurately report, yet still push an agenda. This article discusses the "Million Mom March" rally last weekend. For the purpose of this post, I don't care about the actual issue of the "assault weapon" ban. Here are the only ways the size of the rally is mentioned.
Sunday's protest was much smaller than a similar event that attracted 750,000 people four years ago.Notice they never once give the actual number -- reported at about 3,000 total -- at this rally. In fact, they make sure to use a number only once, and that is the "750,000" from four years ago that has never even been remotely equaled since. By doing this, they accurately reflect that indeed it "was much smaller", but never mention exactly how much smaller, something very easy to do. The only number the reader leaves with is "750,000" re-enforced by the "Million" in the organizations name.
[...]
However the protest drew much fewer people than the so-called "million-mom march" of 2000.
You see this a lot from organizations with an agenda, conscious or unconscious. It gives the illusion of larger support even though there is accurate reporting.

Oh, look. Germany is getting its pride back.
"When the Sasser worm infected millions of computers worldwide, the initial reaction of the authorities was that the programmer was probably sitting in the US or Russia," says Thomas Winkler of the Berlin daily Tageszeitung. "But what we have learnt from this episode is that German school students do not in fact live up to the reputation which the Pisa study bestowed upon them."It is, as you well know, all about self-esteem.
[...]
Yet the tale of the youngster - who created the virus at his home in the tiny town of Waffensen - has nonetheless been seen as salutary one.
[...]
"Children not Indians used to be the cry," says the Tagesspiegel's Andreas Oswald - referring to a pro-natal, anti-immigration slogan once employed in a German election campaign.
"Could it now be the case, that our children are the Indians of tomorrow? That we are underestimating the abilities of youth and the potential of our children, and fundamentally failing to appreciate their interests?"
Yes, I realize this article does not represent all Germans. I may be an untalented idiot, but I can at least glean that.

Starting tomorrow though next week I will be working a job that will probably completely limit my ability to update this site during the day. I won't know for sure until I get into it.

I've had this. It sucked. I mean, really bad. It was like really piss-poor homebrew. It's not even worth it for the novelty.

Ok, the login idea has not gone over well at all. I guess I'll try to think of another solution.

I've seen this elsewhere, but finally lifted it from Dodd. It's a list of books I guess someone pulled out of their arty arse. In bold are the ones I actually have read. As I commented at Dodd's -- after miscounting -- I was almost impressed with myself until I remembered that I was too dense to understand almost any of them when I read them. It's because of that I haven't read more. At one time I intended to, but that was in the days when I wanted to be the type of person who read literature and poetry, not realizing yet that I wasn't actually able to. Now I realize attempting any of the rest would be wasted on me.
UPDATE: Wow...I think this is the leader by quite a bit of any list I've seen.
[Big ole list of books, hardly any of 'em bolded]

Note to self: When writing something partially inspired by something that was a factor in your ongoing depression, do not be surprised if it at some point makes you miserable. Bleah.
On a related note, in order to help break some bad habits, since I am weak, I will be doing some things behind the scenes around here. Most of you shouldn't notice anything, but the key word there is "shouldn't". It is likely I will fuck things up in the process of doing them, so I apologize in advance for any weirdness or strange error messages that could show up in next few days.
